In addition to encouraging community-wide service, Foxboro Never Forgets raised money for a September 11th memorial to be built at the Foxboro Public Safety Building. Envisioned as place of remembrance and meditation, a winding path leads to two granite pillars weighing three tons each and representing the World Trade Center towers. A steel beam from one of the towers is also incorporated into the design.
Steel from the World Trade Center arrived on June 2, 2011. You can view more photos here, courtesy of Michael Webber, Executive Director of Foxboro Cable Access.
The dedication ceremony was held on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. It was attended by hundreds of Foxboro residents and friends, as well as state and local officials and dignitaries. You can view photos from the ceremony here.
